The Skagit River Salmon Festival is a nonprofit organization that was created to celebrate Skagit River and the return of the salmon year after year. The Festival also aims to educate the community about the importance of conserving the river and salmon. The first annual Skagit River Salmon Festival took place in September of 2012 at Edgewater Park and drew in more than 2,500 attendees! After moving to Waterfront Park in 2014, the Skagit River Salmon Festival has continued to grow. Last year, the number of attendees reached more than 6,000!

Many local organizations have participated in the Skagit River Salmon Festival since the very start, including the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, and Puget Sound Energy. Part of the money raised at the Festival is dedicated to helping fund a scholarship for Native Environmental Sciences at Northwest Indian College. The Skagit River Salmon Festival has raised more than $7,000 for the scholarship to date! Also, the Festival has been partnered with the Skagit Community Foundation since 2015 to contribute grant money for environmental stewardship and education.

Music has been an integral part of the Skagit River Salmon Festival every year. This year, there will be seven musical acts performing at the Festival! Check out the music schedule below:
