Battle of the Chefs: Chowder & Chili Showdown
Swinomish Casino & Lodge invites chefs to participate in the Battle of the Chefs: Chowder & Chili Showdown, taking place May 23 at the Wa Walton Event Center. This live culinary competition features signature chowder and chili dishes, guest tastings, audience voting, and a fast-paced Secret Ingredients Challenge. Chefs interested in participating must complete the registration form by February 20. Additional event details and advertising collaboration information will be shared after registration.

1. What do the winners receive?
The winning chefs of the chowder competition and chili competition each receive a trophy and $500 in cash.
The winner of the Secret Ingredient Challenge receives a trophy and $1,000 in cash.
2. How many gallons of chowder and chili should be prepared?
20 gallons of each. You may choose to enter only one competition.
3. Are we limited to a certain type of chowder (i.e., clam, corn, seafood, etc.)?
Chefs are not limited to one type of chowder.
4. Can extra items be used for the Secret Ingredient Challenge?
Yes! You can bring additional tools or ingredients.
5. What is the serving size?
The tasting cups are two ounces, and the voting cups are eight ounces.
6. How many tickets do guests receive?
Guests receive five tasting tickets and one voting ticket.
7. How long do guests have to vote?
Guests can vote between noon and 4:30pm. Winners will be announced by 5pm.
Chowder & Chili Showdown
Prepare one or both dishes. Serve tasting cups to guests with tickets. When a guest votes on your dish, they receive one 8-ounce bowl.
The winners will each receive $500 in cash and a trophy.
Secret Ingredient Challenge
Chefs will be given a container of mystery ingredients and must create a main dish and dessert.
Round 1: Main Dish
Chefs have 45 minutes total, 15 minutes to prepare, and 30 minutes to cook.
Chefs may prepare an appetizer, but must use at least one mystery ingredient.
Judges will vote for their favorites, and those chefs will advance to the next challenge.
Round 2: Dessert
Chefs have 45 minutes total, 15 minutes to prepare, and 30 minutes to cook.
Judges will vote and announce the winner.
The winner will receive $1,000 in cash and a trophy.
