Community Golf Day Recap

by ,

Our 2nd Annual Community Golf Day took place on July 10 and featured a putting competition, hot dogs for sale to benefit Food To Go Anacortes, and drawings to win prizes such as Mariners autographed baseballs, Lodge packages, Swin swag bags, and more! Golfers also enjoyed no green fees, and gave cash donations to the numerous nonprofits along the course. Thanks to this incredible generosity, charities received over $1,000 more than last year from direct donations. Over $5,000 was raised from these donations, driving range fees, cart rentals, putting competition entries, and raffle tickets.

The Swinomish family is so grateful for the many nonprofits who came to support the entire community and made this day a reality. These groups include the Anacortes Youth Sports Coalition, the Skagit County Coalition Against Trafficking, Children’s Museum of Skagit County, the Fidalgo Island Rotary, the La Conner Sunrise Food Bank, the Humane Society of Skagit Valley, the Skagit Habitat for Humanity, the Skagit Friendship House, NOAH Animal Adoption Center, Khloe’s Hope, Skagit Valley Neighbors in Need, Youthnet, Todd Evans Scholarship Fund, the Boys & Girls Club, the Anacortes Family Center, and the CrossRoads Youth Ranch.

The Swinomish Golf Links Ladies Club members worked the grill and sold hot dogs to hungry golfers to raise $2,979 for Food to Go Anacortes. These proceeds will help provide nutritious weekend meals to Anacortes children in need.

“We are proud to host this annual event where players in our community can support local nonprofit organizations,” said Swinomish Golf Links Director Wade Iacolucci. “Thank you to all the volunteers and golfers making this a successful day.”

We are so thankful for the support from our community and allowing us to put on this event, and we will see you next year!
